Google Introduces Doppl, an AI-Powered App to Virtually Try On Outfits

Google has unveiled a new experimental app called Doppl, designed to help users see how different outfits might look on them using AI. The app is now available for download on both iOS and Android in the United States.

With Doppl, users can create a digital version of themselves and virtually try on clothes before making a purchase. The process is simple: upload a full-body photo of yourself in any outfit, then use images or screenshots of outfits—from thrift stores, friends, or even social media—to see how they would appear on you.

Whether you're browsing Instagram for fashion inspiration or spotting a stylish piece at a local store, Doppl makes it easy to visualize how it would look without physically trying it on. This tool could be a game-changer for fashion enthusiasts and online shoppers.

Once you've chosen an outfit to try on, Doppl generates an image of your virtual self wearing it. But it doesn’t stop there—Doppl can also transform these static images into AI-generated videos, giving you a more realistic view of how the outfit would move and look on you in real life.

You can save your favorite styles, browse through your past virtual try-ons, and even share your looks with friends for feedback or inspiration. It's a seamless way to experiment with fashion from the comfort of your phone.

According to Google, Doppl builds on its earlier virtual try-on tools in Google Shopping, which showed how clothes fit on a variety of model body types. The difference? Doppl lets you see outfits on a personalized, animated version of your own body, making the experience more immersive and relevant.

"We hope Doppl helps you explore your style in new and exciting ways," Google said in a blog post. "As a Google Labs experiment, Doppl is in its early days and it might not always get things right. Fit, appearance, and clothing details may not always be accurate."

As part of Google Labs, Doppl also allows the company to test how users interact with this kind of technology, potentially shaping the future of AI-driven fashion experiences.

Since Doppl is currently an experimental launch, it’s unclear when—or if—Google will expand the app to other regions outside the U.S

As Doppl remains an experimental release, Google has not yet confirmed any plans to roll it out in additional countries.
